On a shiny green leaf sat a small green chameleon. It moved onto a brown tree and turned brownish. then it rested on a red flower and turned reddish. When the chameleon moved slowly across the yellow sand, it turned yellowish. You could hardly see it.
-The Mixed up Chameleon by Eric Carle
We had a colorful week discussing The Mixed-Up Chameleon book by Eric Carle. We used acetate paper to decorate the chameleons. We also did some color mixing experiment. Now we know that red, yellow and blue are the primary colors which can make the secondary colors which are orange, green and purple. We made some predictions before mixing the colors.
Another Eric Carle's book that we read this week is A House for Hermit Crab. It was so fantastic finding out how the hermit crab decorated his house beautifully. We were motivated to do a beautification project for our class. We decorated the window by our reading nook with tissue paper and voila! It changed into a beautiful stained glass window.
Inspired by Pancakes, Pancakes! book by Eric Carle, we worked together to make some pancakes on Wednesday morning. Before cooking we did some surveys in our class and complete our graph of favorite pancake toppings. On the graph, we have more people choosing icing sugar as their favorite pancake topping, but when we finished cooking our delicious pancakes and were ready to eat, butter and sprinkles were the ultimate choice of the day.
On Thursday, we ended the week by reading 10 Little Rubber Ducks book by Eric Carle and did some math activities related to the book. On the same day, we had two big events completed our busy day, National Batik Day and Pizza Day for Pre-K 3 and 4 students.
