Yikes! Seven weeks away from the end of school which means some school events are lining up, ready to be checked out from the school agenda. Thanks God, the kids know our class routines which make it easier and faster to do class activities. This week we discussed about animals living in the ocean as well as did some earth day celebration. Have I told you how much do the kids love the animals? Yes, I have. But I just can't help myself not to mention it again since they really really love discussing anything related to the animals.

We made super simple earth day snack last Wednesday. The ingredients we needed were just some oreos and gummy worms. The kids most favorite step in preparing this snack was smashing all the oreos to make them look like dirts.

'Then Sant Jorgi won the fighting against the terrible dragon...' Yay! The legend of Sant Jorgi or Saint George happy ending made the kids happy. Based on this legend, on April 23, people in Barcelona and the other Catalonia cities, celebrate Dia del Libro or book day. On that day, men will give the women roses and the women will give the men books in returns. Thank you Paz family for sharing this wonderful celebration.

'Commotion in the Ocean' story became the inspiration of this delicious lunch. With simple ingredients that we can easily find in most of households' refrigerators, we prepared our oceania pasta. Most of the kids, especially the boys, went home with full tummy of pasta.

The kids had great time attending PRIS Science and Robotic Exhibition. They listened attentively to the young scientists' explanations. All the Lego robots on display have also become their main interest. It was too bad they couldn't watch how the middle school students managed to make all those robots moving.

April 13-17, 2015

We're going to the zoo... zoo... zoo...
How about you... you... you...
You can come too... too... too...
We're going to the zoo.. zoo... zoo...

The elephants love peanuts

10 crocodiles!

The fork lion

Square, triangle, square, triangle, sssssssSNAKE!

My binoculars have the leopard's pattern on them

How many animals are there in each cage? Hmmm...

Can you see the animals?

I saw 4 triangles at this playground

The kids had a terrific week of zoo animals exploration. The kids love animals and there's no doubt about it. Our second of four week discussion on animals have just passed by. Possess the experiences of visiting the zoo for so many times, all the kids were more than happy to share those experiences. One week discussion of zoo animals just wasn't enough for them :)

Say animals...

The Big Yellow Snake

The Colorful Butterfly

The Fish

The Green Spider with Eight Blue Legs

The Pretty Butterfly

The Big Bird

The Flying Fish

The Dragonfly

The Black Snake

The Spider

We were so lucky to have Ms. Susana Ortiz coming to our class with two boxes of foam clay which then turned into cute different animals in the kids' creative hands. Gracias muchas Susana. We had a great time making those animals.

What will you do if you have some animal-shaped crackers, square-shaped crackers, peanut butter and chocolate paste? Last Friday we made our own zoo crackers. They were just perfect. First we spread a little bit of peanut butter on each animal to stick it to the square cracker. After that we used the chocolate paste to make the cage for the animals. Done. As simple as that. If you got spare peanut butter and chocolate paste, feel free to finish them with or without the other ingredients. They taste just right on their own :)

A nice evening of Father Daughter Ball was just a nice closure of the week. Everybody seemed to enjoy the ball. Indeed, it was a night to remember.

April 6-10, 2015

Welcome back! It was great hearing all the Spring break adventure stories from the kids. We are only 10 weeks away from the end of the school. Be prepared with a lot of class activities and events that will happen during those 10 weeks of learning.

Look at our red barns!

My cow has four spots, yours?

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 spots for the cow.

It's milking time!

We will take all the animals back to the barn

Getting muddy with the pig

Which one comes first, egg or chicken?

It's a big yolk

Tomatoes for the omelette

Keep stirring

Mixing

Omph... Yum... Chew... Chew...

Old MacDonald had a farm E-I-E-I-O...

We started our animal unit by discussing animals that we usually meet on the farm. Our resident little farmers were so busy this week. They had some serious discussion on living and non-living things which was followed by our regular Ridge walk to spot some living and non-living things, built some red barns using popsicle sticks, milked the cows,  got muddy with the pigs, discussed chicken lifecycle and parts of the eggs, counted how many spots the cows have, prepare their own delicious eggs and did other different activities. It was a busy week at Pre-K 3 farm.

Mrs. Alex Shnitko came to our class sharing her family experience visiting the zoo. The kids were so excited looking at the pictures of the animals and shared their own zoo visit experiences. Who doesn't love animals? Thank you for sharing.
