December 15-18, 2014

It was still freezing in Pre-K 3 classroom. It was only a four day-school with only four remaining students, but we were still busy doing many things related to season: Winter unit. It was the last week of school in 2014 and each day this week was filled with a lot of activities.

We did some icicle paintings, beanie designs, dream snow painting, marshmallow counting, snowball counting, snow-err not-sand angels making at the sand pit, and snow painting. We also prepared some hot chocolate and marshmallows which we shared with Mr. Marriott and Ibu Rista. They loved our hot chocolate and marshmallows.

On Wednesday evening, we were on stage! We performed some songs that we have practised in music class with Ms. Megan these past few months. The last day of school was fun, too. Although Santa Claus couldn't come to our school as he did last year, Mr. Marriott got Santa Clause secret Skype address and we could talk to Santa through Skype. Santa got the letters that we sent a few days ago. Hopefully, Santa's toy machine is not broken anymore so we can get our Christmas presents soon.

Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy your December break with your family, relatives and friends. See you all in January 2015!

Happy Holidays

Reinforcing new tech skills that the kids learned a few weeks ago, taking pictures and recording voices using ChatterPix app, the kids created their very own Happy Holidays greeting videos. First, the kids did their craft project of upcycling white socks into snowmen, then they took pictures and recorded their voices using ChatterPix app. Please enjoy their Happy Holidays greeting videos.

Dear Santa...

Pre-K 3 students believe that they have been good kids at home as well as good students at school. Then they are quite sure that Santa will come to their houses and bring some presents for them. This morning they drew the things that they want from Santa and tell me what the things are so I can help them to write letters to Santa.

December 8-12, 2014

Do you wanna build a snowman?

Brrrrrrr! Although we live so close to the equator line, it was a very cold week in Pre-K 3 class. The kids were busy doing so many activities related to our season: winter unit. They built snowman using play dough, upcycled socks into Olaf the snowman in Frozen, drew body parts of the snowman, put on hat and counted correct numbers of buttons for the snowman, sewed and hung the mittens, made some paper and popsicle sticks snowflakes and many more.

For our science activity this week, the kids worked together on a special mission to save the Penguins of Madagascar who trapped in the icebergs. Before saving the penguins, they had to make some hypothesis whether the warm water or the cold water which can save the penguins faster.

Testing the water temperature

Carefully pouring the water into the icebergs

I saved Skipper!

Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man! Yup! We made some gingerbread man cookies this week. The kids, as usual, enjoyed every single step taken in making the cookies. Their most favorite step of course, tasting their delicious gingerbread cookies.

We mixed all the wet ingredients

We also mixed all the dry ingredients and
added them to the wet ingredients

We rolled the dough

We carefully cut the dough

After baking them, our cookies were ready for icing

Voila! Our delicious gingerbread man Cookies

Yummmmmm...

At the end of the week, the kids got good opportunity to practice their shopping skills both in English and bahasa Indonesia. The prepared their own shopping bags, then went to the bazaar to buy some stuffs for their family members and for themselves. Some of the kids, even brought some new pets home :)

ChatterPix for Body Parts Unit

As our body parts unit, the kids created a talking picture videos using ChatterPix app. They either took their pictures of their body parts themselves or taking their classmates' body parts pictures. After that they drew a line to make a mouth on each body part, then recorded their voices to name the body parts. Here are the videos that each kid created in the classroom.
