Art for a Cause - Art Auction Piece #2

Our first art auction piece, ABECEDARIO which was inspired by Eric Carle's different painting techniques was sold for IDR 2,000,000 in the last art auction. Hearing the fact that we need to raise more money to be able to help not only Cleo's, our school mascot, family and friends deep in the Wehea forest through Integrated Conservation, but also our friends in Kathmandu, Nepal who suffered from the last earthquake, the kids were excited to work on more art auction pieces.

We started working on our second art auction piece titled 10 Little Birds last Monday. Every kid took part in the painting project. We started by working together to prepare the background. Using sponges, the kids dabbed to cover the canvas with blue and green acrylic paint. After that, taking turns, they added the tree branches using paintbrushes and different sizes of cardboard cutouts. The final step was printed their thumbs as the birds' bodies and their pointers as the the birds' heads. They were so happy looking at the final product and I was so proud of their hard work. This piece will be available in our next art auction. Please see Amberley Craig in person or drop her an e-mail (acraig@prisborneo.org) for detail information about the art auction. Pssst... The kids are going to work on two more pieces next week. I'll keep you all posted. Save and spend your money for this very good cause :)
